Video Platforms’ Value-Added Service Investment Strategies for Viewers and Ad Pricing Strategies

This paper develops a duopoly model in which two free video platforms compete for groups of users, i.e., viewers and advertisers. We investigate platforms’ value-added service (VAS) investment strategies ad pricing under situation where only one platform invests viewers. The results reveal that: 1) When marginal cost increases, the platform’s VAS level price first remain constant then decrease; non-investment remains increases. 2) impacts positive effect on levels prices are related to cost. 3) is higher than platform’s. 4) with without investment.
